Kindergarten
Glenvale Christian School Kindergarten is the launching point for each child's learning journey at GCS. We aim to equip each child with knowledge, skills and experiences which will assist them to take their place in their family, church and the School community, with confidence.
We acknowledge the important role of parents as a child's first educator, and endeavour to foster positive relationships between home and school as we partner in the education of each child. Opportunities for parent participation and open communication are encouraged and valued. We recognise that each child is an individual with different God-given talents that need to be nurtured, and therefore provide opportunities for growth spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
Times
The Kindergarten operates on weekdays. The program runs from 8:40am to 3:10pm.

Glenvale Christian School Kindergarten runs a play-based program underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline. The program is approached from a Biblical world view. Open ended, play based learning focuses on the process not the product. It is the learning that is taking place that is the all important factor. Our staff aim to develop in all children a love of learning, compassion for others, and an appreciation and acceptance of all people. Our commitment to implementing a curriculum based on a Biblical world view means that all our staff are Christians who are actively demonstrating their faith. Glenvale Christian School Kindergarten is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.
Our Kindy operates with a qualified Early Childhood teacher and Early Childhood training aide.
Mrs Justine Simiyu is a university qualified teacher with a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and is registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. She has been employed to develop and implement an educational program in collaboration with children and families.
Mrs Kelly Armitage works with small groups of children, and supports Mrs Simiyu in implementing the care and education program. Mrs Armitage has a Diploma of Children's Services.
There are restrictions on the number of places available in Kindy to meet child/adult ratios as well as minimum requirements for attendance in order to receive entry into the funded Kindy program. More information regarding this is available from the Business Manager or Kindy staff.
Students may be enrolled in the year that they turn 4 years old (before 30 June). It is a condition of enrolment for Kindy students to be toilet trained.
More information about enrolling can be found in the Enrol section of this website
Even though uniforms are non-compulsory, students are encouraged to wear the Glenvale Christian School Kindergarten polo shirt and hat as a minimum. These items can be purchased through the uniform shop. Joggers with Velcro are the ideal footwear.
